The Elevation Model
The goal of the Elevation Model is to equip athletes with positive life skills and a commitment to make a positive community impact in their community. With this goal in mind, the Elevation Model is organized around five core competencies which can help your athletes success in athletics and beyond: Health & Fitness, Character, Self Direction, Teamwork, and Leadership.
The Elevation Model is practical, evidence- based, and designed with middle school, high school, and club coaches in mind. The Elevation Model is also flexible. You do not have to apply the entire model all at once. You can use the Elevation Model as a diagnostic to see where your athletes stand, and then emphasize those parts of the Elevation Model which your athletes need most. Think about using the Elevation Model:
- As a reference tool. You can use the Elevation Model as a reference point to evaluate and refine your own coaching model.
- As a trouble-shooting tool. You can use the Elevation Model to diagnose where your team is struggling and develop a quick coaching plan to turn your team weaknesses into strengths.
- As a training tool for athletes. You can use the Elevation Model to proactively train your athletes in one or more of the five competencies.
- As a training tool for coaches. You can use the Elevation Model to train your staff in how to coach for team success and positive life skills.
